Date of Stay August 10, 2013 Helpful votes:0/0 The Bison Overlook Lodge was a terrific home-away-from-home for our family vacation. The view while we were roasting marshmellows could not have been better. My city kids heard their first-ever rooster crowing in the morning! The only drawback for us was that most of the hiking we wanted to do was closer to Gatlinberg, so we had a long drive back and forth most days. Overall, a terrific stay. Date of Stay August 17, 2013 Helpful votes:0/0 The staff was attentive and responsive. This is a family business and the are prideful of what they do and extremely accommodating. We had a wonderful time sitting out back looking at the great views and we especially enjoyed that our kids went out on so many adventures that they forgot about electronics. After 2 days one of my kids said "I didn't know their was a tv here. Music to my ears. They have trails, a play area, horse back riding just around the corning and most enjoyable were the animals. They have horses, goats, lama and buffalo. With all of this, you still get the sense of being secluded. What a great vacation. We will be coming back. Date of Stay August 21, 2013 Helpful votes:0/0 Amazing!! Thank you, Buffalo Creek Vacations this was one of the most enjoyable vacations for our entire family. The Bison Overlook exceeded our expectations with it's beauty, cleanliness and the amount of activities indoors and outdoors for our boys. While my husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the decks while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the ranch. Also, thank you for recommending so many local activities that suit our family tubing in Deep Creek was a blast! Date of Stay October 11, 2013 Helpful votes:0/0 Recently spent a wonderful week at the Bison Overlook Lodge for my husbands birthday. What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the mountains. The animals were entertaining and the encounters we had with members of the owners family were always friendly and helpful. Walked the trail to the playground. Great place for kids to enjoy. Took a walk most mornings to the main road which is exactly 1/2 mile from the front door of the lodge. You get to enjoy the llamas, goats, mini pony, rabbits and buffalo during the walk. Received a kiss from the llama every day!! The lodge itself is very comfortable. Everything needed to cook meals is available. Great pots and pans. Loved having the griddle for breakfast meals. Plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. The games available in the basement, air hockey, pool, basketball, shuffleboard and foosball were fun. Let Cheryl know we wanted to try the bison steaks and they were delivered the same day. We all enjoyed the steaks. Could have eaten them every day!! The views from the back deck were amazing. Took some great pictures of a beautiful sunrise one morning. Didn't use the hot tub much since we have one at home but our friend staying with us from Rhode Island did and found it very relaxing. We visited Chimney Rock, Grandfathers Mountain and the Smoky Mountains while we were there. Enjoyed them all. Ate at Joey's Pancake House in Maggie Valley and thought it was very good. Ate at Fatz and LOVED the fried green tomatoes. Drove to Summerville SC to shop and attend the Summerville Beer and Food Festival Downtown. It was a lot of fun. Also attended the Waynesville Craft and Food Festival which we also enjoyed. We all noticed how FRIENDLY the people in the south are. Thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and this wonderful lodge. Would definitely recommend the lodge to others and would absolutely stay there again!!! Date of Stay October 24, 2013 Helpful votes:0/0 Everything was nice. The Bison Farm was unbelievable with spectacular views. The animals were friendly and it was convenient to the places we wanted to visit while we vacationed. The only compliant I had is that there was a tremendous amount of flies in the bathrooms. There was also A LOT of cobwebs and spider webs. I never saw an actual spider but they were all over the place. Other than this, everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better trip with my family. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Romantic Getaway
