Screened Patio: Condo 42 is the only Los Almendros rental unit with a screened rear patio. In the evening, guests can relax and listen to the ocean surf without being bothered by insects attracted by the patio's overhead lights. The ability to use the patio, day or night, significantly increases the condo's living space. Families with children appreciate having a second television on the patio.

Outstanding Swimming and Snorkeling: Playa Ocotal is one of Guanacaste's quietest and cleanest 'Blue Flag' beaches. The ocean surf is very gentle. Playa Ocotal has no dangerous riptides. Travel guides recommend Playa Ocotal to outdoor enthusiasts who want to snorkel from a Guanacaste beach. Guanacaste snorkelers drive many miles to explore the rock formations at both ends of Playa Ocotal Beach. Playa Ocotal's best snorkeling is directly below Los Almendros. Father Rooster's Restaurant: One of Ocotal's most popular restaurants is located less than 200 meters from the entrance to Los Almendros. Father Rooster's is a beachfront restaurant that serves tasty appetizers, full meals and delicious tropical drinks. Fresh seafood is the restaurant's specialty. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Father Rooster's is a great place to enjoy a beautiful Guanacaste sunset.

Playas del Coco: Coco is Guanacaste's fastest growing beach community. The town is a 5 minute drive from Los Almendros. Coco has modern grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, ATM machines, restaurants, ice cream shops, disco/bars, souvenir shops, a casino and an emergency medical facility.

In July, 2015, the Hard Rock Café opened a new restaurant in Coco. Los Almendros is less than10 minutes from this popular chain restaurant.

Garmin GPS: We provide our guests the same EZFind GPS software that local rental car agencies charge $7-10 per day. We have added numerous restaurants and activities to EZFind's standard package. Our GPS unit includes all of Coco's best restaurants and Guanacaste's most popular tourist attractions. Select 'Home' and our GPS unit will provide you the safest, quickest route back to Los Almendros.

Pre-Paid Cell Phone: Cell phones from the USA and Canada require a different chip to work in Costa Rica. To eliminate communication concerns, we provide our guests a pre-paid cell phone that can be used to call anywhere in Costa Rica. A few important phone numbers have been programmed for emergency use. These include the Los Almendros office, our General Manager's cell phone and the cell phone number of an English speaking doctor who works out of the emergency medical clinic in Playas del Coco.

Most guests use their iPads and Skype to make inexpensive calls to the USA or Canada.

Rocket Frog Diving: The Rocket Frog dive shop is located next door to Los Almendros' business office. Rocket Frog has Guanacaste's fastest dive boat and newest scuba equipment. Training is conducted in Los Almendros' main pool. Guests staying at Los Almendros are entitled to a 10% discount on all dive services.

Vacation Planning Assistance: Playa Ocotal is an excellent location from which to initiate day trips. Los Almendros has an experienced, bilingual office staff that assists guests in making reservations for deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, sailing, rafting, tubing, zip lining, massages, hiking, bird watching, hot springs, rain forest tours, volcanoes, canopy tours and horseback riding. Our General Manager is bilingual, a Guanacaste native, and knows all the local tour operators. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to help guests plan and coordinate their vacation activities.

Transportation: A car is nice to have, but is not a necessity in Costa Rica. Taxi’s from Los Almendros to Coco cost $7-8 each way. Bilingual tour operators provide affordable transportation from Los Almendros to Guanacaste tourist attractions. Taxi service is available to and from the Liberia airport ($55 car, $70 van). The Los Almendros office can arrange to have a rental vehicle delivered to your condo.

Bicycles: Coco rental shops offer single speed cruisers. We provide our guests two 26"" cruisers, one men's model and one step-through female. Both cruisers are equipped with Shimano's reliable and easy to use, Nexus 3 speed gear system. Two medium sized hills between Los Almendros and Coco are easier to climb with the Nexus gear system. Both bicycles have baskets, comfortable saddle seats and old style cruiser/pedal rear brakes.
