About the Property
Our home is located just 10 minutes outside of Newberg, Oregon, gateway to the Northern Willamette Valley Wine Country. It sits on a 200 acre working farm which produces hazelnuts and wine grapes. Our home is located just 10 minutes outside of Newberg, Oregon, gateway to the Northern Willamette Valley Wine Country. It sits on a 200 acre working farm which produces hazelnuts and wine grapes. It is suitable for up to 8 adults (25 and older). The gravel drive is about half a mile long past the coded gate. The house is comfortable, but not fancy. It started off as a farmhouse in the 1930's and over the years there have been a couple of additions in a more contemporary style. Plenty of room inside and out for people to spread out. The property has a large lawn for playing and events, and a smaller lawn off the kitchen which is nicely shaded by an enormous oak tree. Plenty of parking. There is a bocce ball court for afternoon entertainment.
The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 on the top floor and one on the main level. Upstairs is a master suite with a king bed, fireplace and a small deck, a second bedroom with a king, and a third, smaller bedroom with a double bed and deck. There is a bathroom with a shower and double sink upstairs as well. The downstairs bedroom is fairly small with 2 twin beds. There is a bathroom with a tiled shower downstairs. The kitchen is spacious, well appointed with lots of counter space. Off the kitchen is a "spa" room with a new 2 person jetted hot tub. There is a BBQ outside the kitchen on a deck that abuts the smaller lawn.
There is an eating area just off the kitchen. A TV room is close by, and down book- lined hall ("library") is a larger dining room and sunken living room for groups to gather.

This is a peaceful retreat and suited for this who like to relax, spread out and cook some meals at home. We get quite a few people who are visiting wine country and like to come back to a home after touring during the day. Great for people who are doing bike trips in French Prairie or at Champoeg Park. Only a 10 minute drive to Newberg.

This is a "country casual" place with lots of room and privacy, and little pretension. People tells us they love hanging out at the house after a day of wine tasting in the nearby Dundee Hills.

The property was purchased by my father in about 1959. He loved the property as it had so many unique geographic aspects- ponds, a creek, Willamette River frontage and beautiful forest and farmland. Many crops have been grown over the years- oats, potatoes, wheat, nursery stock and more recently filberts (hazelnuts) and wine grapes. We also board several horses at the property so you may see them and their owners coming and going from time to time.
