Had a wonderful 2 weeks here in Feb '16 whilst we worked on a volunteer led tree planting project on the hilltops to the opposite side of Loch Goil. Over the course of those two weeks, we had to battle 3 named storms, plenty of rain and wind plus a fair mount of snow to plant 11000 trees that will, in time, help create hunting habitat for the golden eagles that nest in the hills around Loch Goil. Despite the challenges of the weather, the area was a joy to work in and the scenery both quite spectacular and majestic. Not being familiar with the area, we were all won over by its beauty and it is so easy to get to from Central Scotland. Greenbank itself had everything we needed and was a welcome and cosy return from the rigours of our work. Plenty of space to spread out and excellent showers all round. The large utility room was also very handy when getting out of wet gear. Lochgoilhead is also well provisioned with a couple of eateries plus a local post office and shop. A further and well provisioned shop is available a short walk away in the nearby holiday park.Skip along the shore, a short walk on a path and over the bridge to the holiday park itself. I also know that the area is very well provisioned with beautiful walks although such were the rigours of our work that further hillside jaunts were not that welcome.
