Mostly the property owners grew up in the Midwest but after getting married, they moved to Guam so her husband could work for the Government of Guam. After that they moved back to the midwest and between the cold and my hay fever, they decided to join some of the family and move to California. As part of their adventure of moving, they decided to build a kit house and after a search of Northern California fell in love with Pine Mountain Lake.
They built the house from 1981 to 1984 at which time we moved from the Bay Area to the house with their 3 daughters. They attended school in Groveland. Most of the time her husband worked in the Bay Area and commuted to Groveland on weekends. After the children left for college, she moved back to the Bay Area to be with her husband full time and start a new career of Library Assistant.
They did not want to loose the house so since 1999, they have been renting it out for travelers. That still allowed them to come up and spend time in the house.
Why This Property?
We had ordered the kit house before we moved to California but had to find a lot within 2 years or our contract would expire. We explored many areas but most were too expensive or just didn't feel right. A friend of my husband's suggested looking into Pine Mountain Lake, so one weekend we went camping in Yosemite and on the way up we stopped in Sonora to check out the Pine Mountain Lake Subdivisio

We explored many areas but most were too expensive or just didn't feel right. A friend of my husband's suggested looking into Pine Mountain Lake, so one weekend we went camping in Yosemite and on the way up we stopped in Sonora to check out the Pine Mountain Lake Subdivision. My husband who was a Civil Engineer and Planner wanted to check it out before we looked mainly to see if it was sewered. It was so we went to a realty company in Groveland and toured a few lots. We really fell in love with this lot. Fantastic location, green space on 2 sides and within walking distance of the beach. After our weekend in Yosemite we stopped back at the realtor and purchased the lot and never regretted it.

Our house is in a quiet area of Pine Mountain Lake. A ravine with a stream is across the street from the house and there is a large green space next to the lot that the association owns. Not only that but we could walk to a beach and Fisherman's Cove was even closer. The girls loved exploring the ravine and green area. As years went by, a tennis court was built across the ravine and a half basketball court and play ground was kitty corner to our house. The deer always come and visit our property and when we lived there they always would know when my roses would bloom and get the blossoms before I could see them.
