The Chaika is a lovely house on a secluded lot at the end of a street with no other house adjacent and no thru traffic. The beautiful Live Oak in front gives a nice view out the glassed-in porch. Only a short 5-minute walk to the beach on a rarely-used sandy drive. 4 bedrooms with beds for 10 people comfortably, plus a full-size futon on the enclosed glass porch. 2 full baths plus private shower under the house. There is a large open area in center of house to gather - spacious, well furnished kitchen, dining area, and living room all connected and open. A great house for families and friends to connect!
Equipped with a reverse osmosis water filter, but also close to water tower for drinking water supply. High speed WiFi. Everything is laid out and furnished for simplicity and convenience.
The family that owns this house has been visiting Edisto for over 30 years, so there are many fond memories and love poured into this property. We welcome renters who are looking forward to building some great memories of time with family and friends in this lovely setting. Since 2012, we have enjoyed hosting people who have made Chaika an annual tradition as well as introducing new guests to this great home.
We are pet friendly - with empty lots on either side, it's a great area to walk the dogs.

"Chaika" is the Russian word for seagull. It was the name of a hotel in the city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan where our family lived for 10 years.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about the home and the homeowners. We just finished our 4th year family vacation at this home and our kids now think of this as “our beach house” it feels like home when we pull in. The house is well stocked with appliances and kitchen utensils, the set up is perfect for our family and family friends as we each get a side of the house to enjoy and the quiet location makes it great for the kids to play outside and not worry about traffic yet close enough to the beach our little ones can make that walk. It’s perfect for our needs! We can’t wait until next year!
My three friends and I had a wonderful stay at this clean, well equipped, spacious home on Edisto Island. Not directly on the beach but an easy five minute walk. Quiet area, trees around the home, birds and breezes tie it all together. Beautiful adventures to be had on this island! Every part of the rental process were an ease. Definitely want to return!
Our first trip to Edisto and The Chaiaka House was Labor Day weekend 2015. We loved it so much, my daughter booked it for our whole family the week of June 18 - 25, 2016. My husband, myself, five grown children and two grandchildren all stayed and enjoyed everything about our accommodations. The children were as excited about bunk beds as they were the beach! I loved the opportunity to reserve same house (if done at check out) for the same dates next year. Unfortunately, with my stage IV cancer, I can't plan that far ahead but would definitely be an annual occupant if health allowed. Thank you for sharing your home with my family to make some wonderful memories.
We rented this house as an overflow home for a family reunion on Edisto Island. We loved it! The location is quiet and close to the beach. It is spacious enough that everyone was comfortably accommodated. We even had folks joining us from the other rental to enjoy the peace and quiet. I could have spent the entire week on the porch, reading, writing, and reveling in the warmth and the gentle, cool breezes. The kitchen was very well outfitted; cooking was a treat. The owners are great -- very responsive and easy to deal with. Can't wait to go back!
