Enjoy the best sunsets on the East Coast from this amazing riverfront classic Victorian summer retreat. Annisquam Singing Pines offers everything you could want in a vacation rental home. The house is situated on over an acre of waterfront land and has lovely gathering spaces both inside and out. It was built as an impressive yet casual vacation home to entertain the family and guests of Governor Bates (the governor of Massachusetts at the turn of the 20th century). The home has five bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a tidal dock.
Bring the whole gang, as the house comfortably sleeps up to 10. Enjoy swimming from the dock (at high tide) or from the "beach" in front of the house at low tide. Guests can have a friendly game of football or croquet (in the spirit of the era of the house) on the huge waterfront lawn, while others sit and watch from one of the screened or open porches. There are several peaceful spots around the property for guests to enjoy the lively boat activity on the river and amazing sunsets.
Today’s entrance is at the back of the house off of the driveway, which leads into the fully applianced eat-in kitchen. The living room has fabulous views of the lawn and river and is graced with a baby grand piano and a flat screen TV. Around the corner is a formal dining room that seats up to 10, as well as the adjacent well -stocked butler’s pantry for supplies.
The other end of the living room opens onto a pleasant enclosed sun porch with views of the river and front lawn with plenty of comfortable seating. Original French doors from the living room take you to an open porch. In the evenings, sit in the large screened-in porch and enjoy the water views and gentle breezes off the river. There is another large porch off of the kitchen for al fresco meals. Also on this level is a full shower bath. The second floor consists of five bedrooms and another full bathroom with tub and shower.
There is plenty of parking for you and your visitors, as well as many other shaded spots to sit under pines that have seen centuries of summer vacationers--ah the stories they could tell! Come and enjoy Gloucester at its historic best, amongst the Singing Pines.
