Close to all of the beauty and charm of Cape Cod, but tucked into a quiet little neighborhood, there is so much to see and do that you could park your car and never use it again. Every detail has been thought of, and there are many personal touches that will make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. It has all the charm of a boutique inn with the privacy of your own home, and we are always happy to help you plan your visit with an insider's view to all of the best places to see and things to do while you are here.
Our cottage, Sonny by the Sea, is a beautiful place where you are sure to return home relaxed and full of happy memories. Our guests are important to us, and we think it is the details that set us apart from other rental properties. Beautifully decorated, super clean, comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 full bath home with central air conditioning, wifi, cable tv , linens, and washer/dryer all on one floor. Enjoy family meals at home in our custom designed kitchen, or have a snack at the kitchen island. If you'd rather not cook - that's OK too, have your lobster and ''chowdah'' cooked to go at Osterville Fish Too just up the road. Better yet, have dinner or cocktails with a view of the harbor at the Mattakeese Wharf - no need to take the car! Stroll down the street to one of the most beautiful beaches on Cape Cod. Be sure to take in a sunset too - beach chairs and towels are here for you, just bring your own flip-flops. The house is just steps to a beautiful saltwater marsh, and the Mill Way Marina is just a block away - you can go on a charter boat or Whale Watch, eco tour, or just watch as the locals unload their 'catch of the day'. Relaxing porch out front, and deck with dining table and grill surrounded by beautiful gardens in the private back yard. Clean up after a day a the beach in the outdoor shower.
Barnstable Village has something for everyone, and you can walk to everything from our cottage! Millway Beach is just down the road, with a beautiful view of Sandy Neck Lighthouse. The beach is sandy, and the water gentle. Walk to Millway Marina for charter fishing, restaurants and ice cream, public boat launch too. Put your kayak in the saltwater marsh and head over to Sandy Neck, do some fishing, dig for clams, or just relax. A short walk past the marina is a playground for the little ones to enjoy, and then head to Main Street for shopping, restaurants, antiques, museums and more. Haunted and history tours also available, and organic farm to pick up some local grown fruit, veggies and flowers. There is a farmers market in town in-season. Located Mid-Cape, it is an easy ten minute drive to Hyannis for nightlife, ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket

I originally chose this cottage as a girls' getaway weekend thank you gift to my mom for helping me plan my July'16 wedding. It was the perfect size for the two of us and great location. Eva (the owner) had emailed us a long list of activity suggestions before we arrived to kind of give us the lay of the land since neither of us had been to Cape Cod prior. Once we arrived we were blown away by how quaint the outside of the cottage was but even more pleasantly surprised once we entered. The layout was perfect and decor looked Home & Garden magazine-worthy. The location was perfect - a 3 minute walk to whale watching (which we highly recommend - we saw 13 whales extremely close to our boat), the beach only a short walk away and Hyannis, not even a 5 minute car ride away. It truly was the perfect weekend and this cottage felt like home at the end of our 2.5 day stay. We actually looked forward to going back and relaxing on the front porch with a glass of wine. Eva was a delight to work with and secure our reservation and if we decide to go back to the Cape (which we are already talking about doing), we would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you Eva!
This cozy cottage was perfect for a mid-winter writing retreat. My husband and I brought a friend and our 3 year old and everyone thoroughly enjoyed this space. What I most appreciated was the beautiful yet child-friendly space. The home was very clean with items to entertain our family ranging from puzzles, to a treasure chest, to fun books and (my daughter's favorite) a stuffed animal whale. We were also able to easily walk to the ocean and downtown Barnstable which was nice on a sunny winter day. We would highly recommend this space- even in wintertime.
It was such a pleasure to stay at Sonny by the Sea. Each detail made the cottage so warm and welcoming. I am having my home remodeled and use the cottage as a stay vacation. Location is excellent! Close by is a great coffee shop Nirvana and market. Quick trip to Hyannis and one of my favorite destinations for bread- Pain D'Avignon. The fish market, Osterville 2, had delicious fish. What I loved most was the comfort of the cottage, the great front porch and back deck, the beach and sunsets. It is a special place. Eva, the owner, is fantastic and will help you in anyway. There were great suggestions on things to do and wonderful books on the Cape. It was truly a home away from home! Thanks Eva , everything was wonderful.
Sonny by the sea was a clean cozy comfortable cottage. The owner has decorated it beautifully and practically for a wonderful vacation at the beach. The cottage was a short walk to the beach in a quiet neighbourhood. There are shops and a coffee bar within walking distance. We loved it and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a Cape Cod vacation place to rest from the many activities available. Barnstable is centrally located to many sights and beaches and activities like whale watching or a trip to the islands. We like this part of the Cape and this property has all you need and more for a wonderful stay. Truly it was like staying at a friend's place as it was welcoming and radiated a warm and inviting atmosphere. we give Donny by the Sea a double thumbs up... we loved it and would love ❤️ to return again.
My husband and I had a wonderful week in Sonny by the Sea. Great location, quiet neighborhood, cottage has very cozy feel. Walked to the beach, road bikes into town (great coffee shop, diner and well stocked market) and a central location for all of our excursions. We boiled lobsters and shucked oysters on the front porch! This was my first visit to the Cape and I know we'll be back.
