We are two retired Texans. He was an Air Force Pilot originally from Southern California. During his Air Force career he lived in Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, Maine, Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida, and Texas. She is an Okie by birth, a Texan by choice, and retired from USA Swimming. Most of her life, she has lived in Texas, but did spend a few years residing in North and South Carolina.

Most of her life, she has lived in Texas, but did spend a few years residing in North and South Carolina.
We love to travel and have visited most of the states in the USA, Mexico, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, and nearly all of the Caribbean islands. We are keen on studying local histories, experiencing local cultures, and making new friends.
We have 5 daughters, 1 son, and 5 grandsons and enjoy backyard family barbecues and pool parties. Having worked many years for USA Swimming, I am passionate about the local swim community and devote a large amount of time working swim meets. Hubby loves watching sports – did I say “GO SPURS GO!”
We are fascinated by the sea and are avid sailors, be it on a catamaran or large cruise ship. Hubby loves to dive, especially with sharks. Yikes! Great Whites, Hammerheads, Lemon Sharks, Tiger Sharks, you name it! I am the snorkeler in the family as I like my sea creatures small, bright and colorful!
We love engaging people and making new friends and creating new memories. Hubby never met a stranger! Seriously! He is the great communicator but believe it or not, I do actually manage to get a word in now and then. LOL.
We have found our perfect place in paradise and have decided to share it with a select few.

My first visit to Sint Maarten was in 1989. I instantly fell in love and promptly proclaimed that one day I would own in Sint Maarten. With each return visit, I spent time learning the island, visiting various properties, finding reasons not to buy, and continuing to dream about purchasing my perfect property.
In 2013, I traveled with my future husband for his first visit to Sint Maarten. I wanted to show him all of the reasons I loved the island. However, as part of my ritual over the years, I insisted that we spend one day looking at real estate. Honestly, I anticipated that the outcome would be the same as the past 24 years. We would see lots of places but none would be perfect, just calling my name.
To my total amazement, when we arrived at a unit known at that time as Le Bijou (The Gem), unbelievably I witnessed my dream unfolding right before my eyes. The condo was located in a residential community with a Guard on duty. It was up on a hill with no risk of hurricane flooding. As we took our first steps inside the door, we both were immediately captured by the incredible views just beyond a wall of windows. Stepping out onto the large veranda, revealed a private pool and my heart jumped for joy. A 180 degree water view!
The inside of the unit, while in serious need of renovations and TLC, was large and spacious. There was even a separate room I could use for an office! Security, serenity, spaciousness, private pool, and a million dollar view! Done deal!
We immediately decided that we could make changes to the interior but such an incredible view would never need changing.
Since 2013, several thousand dollars have been spent on renovations and updates to the inside. Countless, often frustrating hours dealing with local contractors have been invested, and full knowledge of the challenges of working on Caribbean time has been gained.
Le Bijou has been renamed the Lone Star Gem. It’s a little bit of Texas blending with our Caribbean souls.

Grab a book from the lending library and get comfy in the office, living room, or on the veranda. Watch the butterflies flit over the veranda. Look for the monkeys in search of mangos. Prepare meals, snacks or drinks in a fully appointed kitchen. Catch up on your favorite TV shows on flat screen television. Rain in the forecast – no problem. Sit under the covered deck and be amazed by spectacular rainbows. Use the island phone to make dinner reservations. Put on some music, grab a drink and view the amazing sunsets. Watch for the illusive “Green Flash” on a clear horizon. Search for constellations in the night sky. See the sparking Great Bay night lights. Enjoy the peace, serenity and tranquility of the Caribbean trade winds. Spend time with the one you love!

We were completely wowed from the moment we walked in the door. Everything about this place is truly first class! What a view! Words can't describe it. So relaxing to just float in the pool or enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda and watch the activity in Great Bay. Sunsets truly were beautiful. The kitchen had everything - even the disposable items we always seem to end up having to buy. We have finally found our special place on the island and will be visiting you again soon. Oh, and please be sure to extend our special thanks to Property Manager Chris for making sure that we had a memorable visit.

We have stayed several times at this complex. This condo is one of the nicer spaces. Great for a couple. Just one danger though is once you are here you will not want to leave to explore the rest of the island. Look forward to staying again!

I have stayed in many different condos, but this one is exceptional! Just to start, the view is unbeatable. The condo is very well maintained and immaculate. The owners are very friendly and responsive. Sitting in the pool with a cold drink as the sun sets and watching the cruise ships pull out is a memory I will never forget. I can't say enough. Do NOT miss this one!!!

The owners where so helpful with arrangements. Could not believe the view. There is a plunge pool that overlooks the cruise ships as they make dock. Very romantic in the evenings to watch all the lights on the cruise ship. Wonderful location. Island was so much fun. Friendliest island I've ever been to. 5 stars all the way.
