House Rules

To rent the house, you must be at least 25, we require copy of drivers license, the person renting must be staying at the property, you can not rent it for your children, no large events/parties, No fireworks or discharging of any kind of firearms at anytime on the property. You must sign and return our rental agreement with your deposit. There is no smoking inside the house.

About Cheryl and Roger

We have been married for 33 years and we have three married daughters, four grandchildren, (so far). My husband enjoys hunting and fishing. I enjoy gourmet cooking, sewing, crocheting and spending time with family and friends .

Why This Property?

My husband has relatives who live in the area and he would come here to go hunting. Fell in love with the area convinced me to come up here, and the rest is history. We actually have talked about retiring here.

This is a unique 4-bedroom, 2-bath, 3-story lodge-style home set on 13 acres of woodlands and rolling hills located 2 miles outside the town of Spencer, NY. The house has a beautiful view of meadows and wooded hills and is ¼ mile off a country road, with lots of peace and quiet. This is a wonderful place to enjoy nature, wildlife, and the outdoors.

The 4 bedrooms contain 2 queen-size beds, 3 full-size futons, and 1 twin bed; additional sleeping space is available. The living room and family room have couches, recliners, rockers, and 2 large TVs. There is WiFi and a landline phone for local calls only. The house is fully equipped with sheets, towels, microwave, dishes, cookware, utensils, etc., and is ready for your stay.

There is no smoking in the house. The property and house is dog friendly – a great place for dogs to run. There is a fire-ring, and a brook along the property edge. The décor is hunting-lodge style, with mounted deer, turkeys, pheasant, and elk antlers, plus lots of wildlife art and carved decoys.

The A-frame forms the 20-foot-high ceiling of the living room, which features knotty pine walls, wood beams, a fieldstone chimney, and a huge glass wall that opens onto a 12x24-foot second-floor deck. On this floor you’ll find a large, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, dining room, bath, and a bedroom with a private deck. The first floor has a bedroom, family room, large bath, and utility/storage areas. The third floor consists of 2 bedrooms in a loft that overlooks the airy living room.

The town of Spencer is about 16 miles south of Ithaca and 20 miles east of Watkins Glen. There are lots of attractions within an easy drive: Finger Lakes wineries, State parks with waterfalls and gorges, Tioga Downs (harness racing and gaming), Watkins Glen racetrack, Corning Glass Museum, antique shops, Quilt shops etc. Spencer has a grocery store, bank, gas station, dollar and hardware stores, churches, hair salon, library and several good restaurants. It’s an easy drive to full shopping areas, malls, and upscale dining. There is an 18-hole golf course and country club nearby.
