Tamarind is a delightful beach-front villa on the edge of False Bay, with its warm waters and sheltered 5km white sandy beach. Enjoy beautiful views and stunning sunsets overlooking the Cape of Good Hope.
The house is situated on a large, private estate right next to the beach, which forms its southern boundary, offering spectacular views of False Bay and beyond. Its backdrop are the beautiful Helderberg Mountains on the northern side and the Hottentots Holland Range on the east lending panoramic views of ever-changing mountains. To the north-west, and viewed from the garden, is Table Mountain.
Our home is airy, spacious, and is beautifully and very nicely furnished with everything you will need for a comfortable stay โ a true home from home. It sleeps four people comfortably (and up to six people with the sleeper-couch), with two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite). There is a terrace, with a loggia, that looks across the sea and False Bay to the Cape of Good Hope. There is a large, open-plan kitchen, living and dining area.
All bed linen, duvets, pillows and bath towels are provided, although you will need to bring your own beach towels please. The house will be cleaned at the end of your stay but we can also arrange for cleaning during your stay too, if required, at extra cost.
The lovely master bedroom, decorated in calm neutral colours, with beautiful pictures on the walls, can either have a 6ft double bed, or twin beds. There is plenty of wardrobe space, and windows overlook the courtyard to the rear of the house. This room captures the morning light โ a lovely way to wake up on holiday. The smart en-suite bathroom has a large bath, toilet and separate shower. The stylish wash basin is on a dark, wenge-wood stand.
tam-bed-2e1The twin bedroom also has generous wardrobe space, an antique bedside cabinet, and charming neutral decor. The separate shower room is just across the corridor and is very similar in style to the en-suite bathroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and induction hob, as well as plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans โ far better than most homes, let alone holiday homes! There is also plenty of picnic-ware for some al fresco dining or the Kirstenbosch picnic concerts. The kitchen has a handy breakfast bar for informal meals and there are two wrought-iron tall chairs on which to sit.
For more formal dining there is a stylish, glass dining table, which seats six in comfort on elegant wrought-iron, cushioned chairs, bathed in natural light from a sky-light above.
The sitting area has two sofas and a chair, and looks out onto the garden and sea. There is a television (with basic DSTV) and a mini hi-fi. There is also wi-fi (3G-LTE).The bookshelves offer a variety of reading, from novels and magazines, to guides on the local area, bird and sea life, and South Africa in general. There are also a number of board games and cards for your amusement and entertainment.
Outside is a patio and private, lawned garden overlooking the sea and the Cape beyond. There is a covered parking area next to the house, and to the rear of the property is a communal swimming pool and gardens, with a communal braai/barbecue by the pool, which makes an ideal spot for supper.
There is a communal laundry (washers and dryers), which is always quiet, accessed from the parking area.
Electricity is from a pre-pay meter, so you will need to purchase units. We will ensure there is some electricity in the meter to give you a few days power. However, you will then need to purchase units (R50-R100 is easily enough for 7-10 days of normal use in summer) from the local OK Foods Store on the R44 about 300m from the house. We have now equipped the house with LED lightbulbs and newer, A-rated appliances, so the electricity costs are kept to a minimum and help the environmental impact.
